About
We are a hospital based health centre focused on the continuum of primary health care services including a broad range of basic and some specialist hospital services, specialized community based programs and services responding to population health needs (withdrawal management, suicide, TB, etc.), long term care and integrated traditional and modern medicine.
The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre is a fully accredited, combined 41 acute care bed regional hospital and a 20-bed Extended Care facility; including a Community Counseling and Addiction Services Program.
We provide health services with respect to culture and linguistic diversity of all residents within Sioux Lookout and the surrounding area, and to people from the Nishnawbe-Aski communities north of Sioux Lookout, the Treaty # 3 community of Lac Seul First Nation, as well as to residents of Pickle Lake and Savant Lake.
The SLMHC operates at six existing sites under one administration. The two hospitals are formerly known as the District Health Centre and the Sioux Lookout Zone Hospital. With the signing and implementation of the 1997 Four Party Hospital Services Agreement, health services have improved tremendously, and will continue to improve with the consolidation of services.
