Barb Linkewich

Barb Linkewich joined the management team at Meno Ya Win in the early fall of 2006. With her background as a Registered Nurse, she brings with her years of experience in health care management, consultation, nurse education, patient and program advocacy and research. She has participated in planning, development and implementation of various initiatives at all levels. Barb also had her own private practice for a number of years offering her health care skills as a lactation consultant. 

Her contributions include being the Secretary of the Ontario Palliative Care Association and being a member of the Canadian Nurses Association Hospice Palliative Care Certification National Exam Committee. Barb worked in partnership with Treaty # 3 First Nations in the development of a resource titled, “Care of the Terminally Ill - Honoring the Choice of the People”, a guiding tool for First Nations Health Care Providers in helping them deal with dying people and their families. Her tireless and passionate commitment to volunteer work has been greatly appreciated by various organizations.Barb, along with George Smitherman and Geoff Davis were honored winational recognition as Members of the Companionate of Merit of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem at the Order of St. Lazarus’ National Conference in St. John’s, Newfoundland this year. The honor was to acknowledge their continued leadership, commitment and contribution to palliative care. 

Barb considers having raised her family of four children in Northwestern Ontario to be her greatest accomplishment. While she enjoys nature and the outdoors, her hobbies include boating, swimming, cooking and reading.
