Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre is Moving to its New Health Facility

The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre is pleased to announce the Emergency Department and all Obstetrical Services will open on November 7th, 2010 at 7:30 AM at # 1 Meno Ya Win Way. Prior to this date and time all patients will continue to receive care at the 5th Avenue Site.

Mr. Dave Murray, President & CEO, SLMHC, announced earlier this morning, “This month has been a flurry of excitement with having had our Grand Opening and Community celebrations a couple weeks ago and now we are in the process of getting ready to move into the new health facility. We want to assure the public and our health care partners the move will be a smooth operation with no disruption to essential services and programs”.

“We want everyone to know the Emergency Department and all Obstetrical Services will open at the new health centre at # 1 Meno Ya Win Way on Sunday, November 7th, 2010. Prior to this date and time all patients will continue to receive care at the 5th Avenue Site as usual”. However there will be limited and modified services during this time while the move is taking place. All other services will open on November 8th”, said Mrs. Barb Linkewich, Vice-President of Health Services.

Doug Moynihan, Vice-President of Corporate Services said, “There will be no change to our telephone number, our number will remain the same, 807-737-3030. As stated earlier this month the new street address is # 1 Meno Ya Win Way, and our mailing address will remain the same, Box 909, Sioux Lookout, Ontario, P8T 1B4”.

Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre wants to keep everyone well informed about the move, and listed below are programs and services that will be affected during the move:

Diagnostic Imaging

The Diagnostic Imaging department at the 7th Avenue Site has been shut down as of Monday, October 18th, 2010. However, services for X-Ray and Ultrasound will still be available at the 5th Avenue Site until Sunday, November 7th at which time diagnostic imaging services will be continued at the new hospital site at #1 Meno Ya Win Way.

Lab

Lab will be closed for Out Patient collections November 1 - 5; signage has been posted in the Out Patient collection area at the 7th Avenue Site and distributed to all patients & Clinics. Out Patient Lab collection will resume on Monday, November 8th at the new hospital site, # 1 Meno Ya Win Way. Urgent and emergent collections will be done through the Emergency Department.

Chemotherapy and Day Medicine

From November 4th to 6th all Day Medicine patients will report to the Emergency Department at 5th Avenue Site for service. All Chemotherapy Patients will receive treatments as scheduled. On November 8th all services for Day Medicine and Chemotherapy will be provided at # 1 Meno Ya Win Way, accessing the ambulatory care entrance.

Cardiopulmonary Lab

The Cardiopulmonary Lab will be closed to all patients on November 3rd and 4th. During this date/time there will be no outpatient services. The Lab will resume to full operation at the new hospital site at # 1 Meno Ya Win Way on Monday, November 8th, 2010.

Admitting

Effective November 5, 2010, the 7th Avenue Admitting Department will be closed for services and all admitting services will be provided from the 5th avenue admitting site until the patient move occurs on November 7, 2010.

Admitting/ Health Records: (Open on November 8, 2010)

Hours of Operation:
6:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday

Services Provided:
Outpatient/Clinical Registrations Admissions, Transfers and Discharges

Patient Navigator/Reception: (Open at 10:00 am on November 6, 2010)

Hours of Operation:
9:00 am – 9:00 pm Monday – Friday
10:00 am – 2:00 pm Saturday – Sunday

Services Provided:

  • Switchboard/Paging
  • Cashiering
  • Patient Way Finding

Emergency Registration Desk: (Open at 7:00 am on November 7, 2010)

Hours of Operation: 24 hour coverage Monday - Sunday

Services Provided:

  • Emergency Registrations
  • Cashiering after hours
  • Switchboard/Paging after hours
  • Admissions, Transfers and Discharges after hours
