Physical Therapy (PT) & Occupational Therapy (OT)

The Rehabilitation Department at the new Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre provides acute, chronic and complex client care for inpatients and outpatients. Specialist services include an orthopedic / orthodic program with Thunder Bay Orthopedics and fracture clinics for visiting orthopedic surgeons on-site. Provision of Physical Therapy services to 28 First Nations Communities in North Western Ontario is also mandated wherever there is a need. In 2003/04, ten communities were visited.

Staff is also active in program development, such as fall prevention, cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation, telehealth programs and wound care. On site staff and community support includes back care sessions and performing work place ergonomic assessments.

Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy treatment areas may include, but are not limited to, the assessment, treatment and provision of recommendations relating to:
